Floy Marie Pinson

Floy Marie Pinson, age 85 of Gainesville, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, August 12, 2013 at her residence following an extended illness.


Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Vernie Worley and Reverend Gary English will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 9 pm at the funeral home.


Mrs. Pinson was born January 28, 1928 in Forsyth County, Georgia to the late Guy Crowe and Belle Waldrip Crowe. She was retired from South Hall Middle School with over 25 years of service. Floy was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School for more than 50 years. She received a BS Degree in Secondary Science from North Georgia College in 1970 and her Masters and Specialist Degrees from UGA in 1973. Floy was a lifelong learner and was passionate about her love of teaching and her students.


Mrs. Pinson is survived by her husband of 69 years, Wilburn "W.A." Pinson of Gainesville, daughter and son-in-law, Joy & Kelly Parham of Gainesville, sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie & Donna Pinson of Gainesville and Randall Pinson & wife, Dr. Lynn Satterfield of Dahlonega, grandchildren, Audrey Berzack of Dahlonega, Russell Pinson of Vancouver, BC, Dr. Brandon & Cherish Pinson of Forsyth, Georgia, Jordan Parham of Gainesville and Cameron Parham of Kansas City, 2 great-grandchildren, Nathan and Max Berzack, sister, Sue Anderson of Gainesville and a number of nieces and nephews.
