Carl Wilson Lawson,

Carl Lawson, Born December 3, 1917 died on August 8, 2013. He was the son of Normous and Minnie Green Lawson. His siblings who preceded him in death were; Herbert Lawson, Rheba Proctor Houk, Thomas Lawson, Robert Lawson and Evelyn Lawson. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia "Ginny" Lawson and daughter, Mary Lawson.



He was born on a farm on Autry Rd. with frontage on Clarks Bridge Rd. and attended Luck # 6 one room school through the sixth grade, then Main Street School and Gainesville High School. He then attended school of Radio and Electricity in Los Angeles and returned home in June 1936, then to Owen Osborne until August of 1936 when he entered The University of Georgia and graduated in December of 1942, with a degree of Bachelor of Science, Forestry and was number one in his class.



He claims to be the last person living that was present in Jacksonville when in October 1942, Georgia beat Florida 75-0!



He then went into the Army serving in the, Pacific, Japan and Korea. During this time he served on the staff of General MacArthur. While in the Army he rose to the rank of Captain.



Good things come sometimes from bad. The war brought Virginia Ryals of Americus and Carl together and they were married Thanksgiving 1946 and were married for 61 years.

At home he started an insurance and real estate business and entered into Gainesville life
