Gloria Patricia Evans

Gloria Patricia Evans retired Registered Nurse, Medical Assistant, Teacher age 79, died July 26th after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.
Born in Canton, Mrs. Evans lived in Marietta for many years. She graduated from Marietta High School, The University of Georgia, and The Jefferson-Hillman School of Nursing in Birmingham. Her lengthy nursing career began at Kennestone Hospital and extended to assisting Marietta Physicians, Hugh Colquitt, MD, Gordon Stafford, MD, Charles Underwood, MD, and Emerson Cochran, MD, in their offices. In 1975, she began teaching Medical Assisting at the Chattahoochee Technical Institute, from which she retired in 1996. She was presented the President's Professional Achievement Award by Dr. Harlon Crimm in 1994 and was the institute's candidate for the 1995 National Award of Excellence in Teaching. She was a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, as well as several vocational, nursing, and medical assistant organizations.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bill Evans; daughter and son-in-law, Teri and Bill Mohr; granddaughter, Amy Miller and her husband Joel Miller; great granddaughter, Mabyn Miller; grandson, Michael Mohr all of Cumming; brother, Thomas Haley of Marietta; and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service was conducted by Rev. Deborah Griffith, Associate Pastor Alpharetta First United Methodist Church.
