Donald Dorsey Galloway, age 79, Cleveland, Georgia, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2013, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Galloway was born on March 21, 1934, in Banks County, Georgia, to the late Hershel and Elsie Norton Galloway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill, Talmadge, Alford, and Dwain Galloway. Mr. Galloway was a United States Army Veteran having served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired truck driver and electrician. Mr. Galloway was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Joyce Thomas Galloway, Cleveland, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Larry Loggins, Demorest, GA and Joyce "Pete" and David Abbott, Alto, GA; daughter, Brenda Galloway, Cornelia, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Mack and Missy Galloway, Demorest, GA; son, Donald "Toad" Galloway, Mt. Airy, GA; sisters, Geraldine Mason, Alto, GA and Bobbie Galloway, Gainesville, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Grace and George Ivester, Turnerville, GA; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia, with Rev. Roy Lee Mitchell, Rev. Michael Wilkes, Rev. Milton Harris, and Rev. Chad Parham officiating. Interment will follow in Leatherwood Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, and the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the funeral home.
