Larry M. Johnson, age 65, of Lawrenceville, Georgia went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, July 18, 2013 after a long battle with Leukemia.
Funeral service will be held at North Metro Baptist Church, Lawrenceville, GA on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at 3:00 PM. Dr. Frank Cox will officiate. Interment will be held at Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens following the service. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013 from 5-8 PM and Sunday July 21, 2013 from 1:30-3 PM at North Metro Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the building fund at North Metro Baptist Church.
Larry is survived by his precious wife, Martha Thornton Johnson of Lawrenceville, GA, his son Matthew Johnson and his wife Whitney Warzon Johnson and their sons Ethan Johnson and Tanner Johnson of Buford, GA. His daughter, Stephanie Johnson Adams, and husband Erik Adams and their son Levi Adams of Hochston, GA. His loving parents, Wendell and Virginia Johnson of West Bloomfield, Michigan. His brother, Scott Johnson and wife Beth of Marietta, GA. His sister Karen Wylodochak and husband Michael of Maumee, Ohio. His sister Debbie Alessandrini and husband Ron of Lavonia, MI. His extended family of Troy and Stephanie Meek and their children Wesley, Jack, and Alison of Gainesville, GA. And Trace Meek of Easthampton, MA.
Larry was born in Detroit, Michigan but lived in the Atlanta area for most of his life. He was a graduate of Tucker High School and the University of Georgia. Larry proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam conflict. He spent most of his career in both the insurance and medical personnel recruiting industries. More importantly, Larry gladly served the Lord at North Metro Baptist Church in various ministries through the years in teaching, prayer partners, the choir, cancer support group and as a deacon.
