Mr. Billy Ray Smith, age 72, of Gainesville, GA, went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2013 surrounded by his family.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend Randall Popham and Reverend James Campbell will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 9 pm Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the funeral home.
Billy Ray born on June 12, 1941 in Hall County, Georgia and was the son of the late J.C. Smith and Mittie Gay (Thomas) Smith. He served in the United States Army. Billy Ray was a Charter Member and former elder of Lanier Hills Church. He was also a member of the Hall County Board of Realtors and sold real estate in the North Georgia area for over 25 years.
Billy Ray is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Uraina Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Gary Black; daughters Melanie Gay Smith and Jill Smith, all of Gainesville; grandchildren, Danielle Black Robinson; Jordan Black, Abby Black all of Gainesville; Britain Oxmer of Baldwin; Matthew and Cory Thomas of Talmo; two great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Standridge of Lula and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Nelson and Susan Smith of Lexington; and Douglas and Shirley Smith and a number of other family and friends also survive.
