Marylee Bonner Turner, age 92 of Chestnut Mountain, Georgia passed into the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ, Monday, June 24, 2013 following a period of declining health.
She was a native of Bridgetown, Wichita County, Texas and was the daughter of the late Cleophus T. Bonner and Zenobia Jones Bonner Hardman. Marylee was the wife of the late Wilmer Donald "Pete" Turner of Alexander City, Alabama. Preceding her in death are her beloved son, Michael Donald Turner, daughter-in-law, Barbara Smitherman Turner, son-in-law, Johnny Hugh Mattox, Sr., sister, Ethlene Bonner Pridgen and her brother, Cleophus T. Bonner, Jr.
Mrs. Turner was a member of First United Methodist Church, Ashland, Alabama, Eastern Star and the Clay County Historical Society. She enjoyed gardening, decorating, collecting antiques and glassware. Marylee was an avid genealogist. God and her family were the center and love of her life.
Mrs. Turner is survived by her loving daughter, Bonnie Turner Mattox of Chestnut Mountain, Georgia, grandchildren, Johnny Mattox, Jr. of Gainesville, Georgia, Marty Lee Mattox of Delray Beach, Florida, Donna Turner Grady of Atlanta, Georgia and Michael Turner of Apopka, Florida, great-grandchildren, Tanner Grady, Jay Mattox, Jesse Mattox, Jaden Claire Mattox, Joyanna Mattox, Josie Mattox and Jenna Mattox, special nephew, Robert E. Hardman of Roseboro, North Carolina and a number of special cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, June 28, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, Ashland, Alabama. Her grandson, Johnny Mattox, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm in Flint Hill United Methodist Cemetery in Alexander City, Alabama. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 28, 2013 from 9 - 11 am, prior to the service at the Church.
