George Peter Hutchinson

Obituary Date: Thursday, June 20, 2013
George Peter Hutchinson, age 74, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013, in a traffic accident near Kampala, Uganda. A resident of Gainesville since 1987, and the director of Church Planting International, was killed instantly in a traffic accident near Kampala, Uganda, during a mission trip.

Born Nov. 21, 1938, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and reared in Penns Grove, New Jersey, Rev. Hutchinson was a graduate of Princeton University and held a D.Phil from Oxford University in England. He was a retired Presbyterian minister who traveled extensively preaching and training pastors for the work of the Lord in Myanmar, India, Russia, Africa, and elsewhere.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years Linda L. Hutchinson, Gainesville, GA; two sisters Troyanne Hutchinson White and brother-in-law Jonny White, Penns Grove, NJ, and Betty Gaino, Allentown, PA; four sons: Major John R. Hutchinson III and daughter-in-law Jill Bentley Hutchinson, Macon, GA, Albert W.D. Hutchinson, Gainesville, GA, Captain Chester H.L. Hutchinson and daughter-in-law Erin Aucker Hutchinson, Ft. Knox KY, and Jackson J. Hutchinson, Gainesville, GA; and eight grandchildren, to John and Jill (Lillian, Ansley, Ethan, and Asher) and to Chet and Erin (Harkins, Cedar, Finlay, and Aurelia).
Dr. Hutchinson will be buried in New Providence, PA, in a Family Cemetery.

Graveside services will be held, Tuesday, June 25, 2013. A memorial service is being planned at Chestnut Mountain Presbyterian Church, Chestnut Mountain, Georgia on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11:00 am. The family will receive visitors at the church from 10 - 11 am before the service celebrating the life and ministry of "Rev. George".
