Jessie Mae York Wood

Memorial services for Jessie Mae York Wood, age 72 of the Batesville Community were held on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at 2:00 PM from the Providence Baptist Church. Her brother, Rev. Clifford York officiated.

Mrs. Wood died May 27, 2013 following an extended illness.

Born in Rabun County on February 26, 1941 Mrs. Wood was the daughter of the late Rev. Julius and Margie Carnes York. She was a retired textile worker from Fruit of the Loom. After retirement Mrs. Wood went back to college to further her education. She received a degree in Horticulture from North Georgia Technical College. Mrs. Wood was a member of Providence Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wood is preceded in death by her husband Charles Ray Wood and daughter Tracy Wood.

Survivors include son and daughter in law Tommy and Deanna Wood, son Jason Lee Wood, and daughter Missy Wood all of Batesville, son Charles Anthony Wood of Alto, brothers Rev. Clifford York of Baltimore, Maryland, and Furman York of Tennessee, as well as eight grandchildren.
