Marjorie Cotten Richardson

Marjorie Cotten Richardson (Margie), 91, of Sugar Hill, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2013.

She was born in Savannah, Georgia on September 18, 1921. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Lewis M Richardson, parents Arthur Cotten and Mary Elizabeth Cotten, and sister, Betty Brantley. She is survived by her daughter, Martha Barrett, daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Michael O'Rouke, son and daughter-in-law, Lewis and Catherine Richardson, grandchildren Philip Barrett, Matthew Barrett, Patrick and Tate O'Rouke, Jason O'Rouke, Mary Beth O'Rouke, William Richardson, Madeline Richardson, sister, Landis Gunn and many nieces and nephews. Marjorie was a member of Level Creek United Methodist Church and a WWII Veteran that served proudly as a Draftsman in the Women's Army Corps. Lovingly known as Miss Margie by her students, she was a Preschool teacher at Peachtree Presbyterian, Clairmont Presbyterian, and Level Creek UMC for 35 years, where she also was the Director. She graduated from Girls High in Atlanta, was an accomplished artist and musician, and a member of PEO. She also was a staunch Atlanta Braves fan through thick and thin. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to Level Creek United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4844 Suwanee Dam Rd, Suwanee, GA 30024. The celebration of Marjorie's life will be officiated by the Rev. Jeremy Lawson and will be held at Level Creek United Methodist Church on Sunday June 2, at 2pm.
