Clyde Grayson Powell

Clyde Grayson Powell, age 71 of Homer, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013 at his residence.

Born on July 2, 1941, in Pickens, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Charlie and Edith Brown Powell. Mr. Powell was a saw miller with Davis-Washington Lumber Company and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Gainesville.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Powell was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry Wayne Powell; brothers, Charles and James Powell.

Survivors include wife of 33 years, Joette Powell of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Christy and David Calloway of Jefferson; grandchildren, Billy Ray Calloway of Jefferson and Grayson Grant Powell of Anderson, SC; stepmother, Katherine Powell of Greenville, SC; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Donna Powell of Pickens, SC; brother, Richard Powell of Pickens, SC; sisters, Eula Mae Grice of Pickens, SC, Grace & J.C. Nix of Simpsonville, SC, Martha & Mike Graveley of Liberty, SC, Nancy & Jack Senter of Greenville, SC, Patricia Morgan of Greenville, SC and Lillian Powell of Greenville, SC.

Funeral services are 3:00 pm Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Roy Rogers and Rev. Don Blalock officiating. Interment will follow in Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on Friday.
