Florence Inez Sims

On Tuesday, May 21, 2013, Florence Inez Sims, a child of our Lord, left this world to join the Church Triumphant and her Father in Heaven. Florene was born on September 16, 1930 in Robertstown, Georgia to William H. (Bill) and Martha Allison Cornell.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jack C. Sims,. She is survived by one daughter, Jackie Thurmond; and two sons, Michael Sims (Angela) and William H. Sims (Sue); all of Georgia. She is survived by five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her surviving siblings include two sisters, Sue Nix (Jimmy) and Evelyn Binsz(Darald); and two brothers, Dan Cornell( Sandra) and Glenn Cornell (Jena), all of Georgia . Florence is also survived by her sisters in law, Geneva Elwell and Jane Sims, both of Helen as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews.

She is also preceded in death by three siblings, sister Charlotte Turner (Arthur) of Dunwoody, Georgia; sister, Doris Ruth Cathey (Ross) of Helen and brother, Larry Cornell (Arlene) of Hagerstown, Maryland

A lifelong believer in the Christian faith, she practiced that faith in the Baptist Church at several wonderful churches in Northeast Georgia. She enjoyed singing in the choir and taught Sunday School for over 40 years. She loved the company of others and took great joy in a good laugh, even at her own expense.

A memorial celebration service will be held Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 2:00pm at Corinth Baptist Church, 3590 Thompson Bridge Rd., Gainesville, Georgia. The Reverend Michael Kirby and Dr. Bart McMillian will officiate. Interment services for the family will be at a later date.

The family will receive friends at 1:00pm, Saturday, prior to the memorial service . In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Florence's memory to Corinth Baptist Church, 3590 Thompson Bridge Rd., Gainesville, Georgia
