Rev. Warren Glenn "Butch" Nichols

The Good Shepherd called his Under Shepherd, Rev. Warren Glenn "Butch" Nichols, age 66 of Alto, Georgia, home to be with Him on Saturday, May 04, 2013 following an extended illness.

Born in Hannibal, Missouri on August 20, 1946, he was a son of the late Virgil Elmer and Gertrude Salmon Nichols. Butch graduated from Williamstown High School, Williamstown, Missouri in 1964. He was employed with International Harvester Farmall Division, Rock Island Plant from 1965 until its closing and retired from the Navistar Truck Division in 1998 with 33 years of service. Butch was also employed with Regal Mills in Alto, Georgia, Gainesville Marina, Gainesville, GA; Western Auto, & Arnold Drug Co. of Cornelia. He was saved at age 52, serving the Lord ministering in the Nursing Homes, on Radio Broadcasts, and as Associate Pastor, then Pastor of Northside Baptist Church of Cornelia. Rev. Nichols also played the guitar, wrote numerous songs and sang with the Old Time Gospel Singers and with The Sword & Shield. He was a member of the Higher Ground Baptist Church. His hobbies included fishing and hunting. Rev. Nichols was also a great storyteller of his growing up years, fishing, hunting, then later years about his walk with God and of the services he attended.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 48 years, Shirley Dyer Nichols, Alto, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Caprice & Clark Whitmire, Alto, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Stacy & Melissa Smith Nichols, Winamac, Indiana; 10 grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Blackaby
