Mortimer P. Beckler, 85, a resident of Gainesville, Georgia, formerly of Livermore and Orrs Island, Maine, passed away Tuesday, April 30th at his home.

He was born March 22, 1928 in Livermore, Maine, the son of Earle H. Beckler and Beatrice (Partridge) Beckler. Mort was a 1946 graduate of Leavitt Institute in Turner and continued his education at Auburn Maine School of Commerce, graduating in 1950. On September 2, 1950 in Monmouth, he married his wife of 62 years, Alma Brown of Blaine, Maine. Mort worked in the insurance business for Patrons Oxford Mutual Insurance Company in Auburn, and in the assigned risk department for the State of Connecticut. He later owned and operated Maple Lane Golf Country Club in Livermore, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Auburn, Maine State Insurance Association, Tranquil Masonic Lodge of Auburn, Kora Shrine of Lewiston, Scottish Rites, Lodge of Perfection, Rose Crown, and United Way, he was a board member of Chamber of Commerce, trustee at St. Mary's Hospital, and trustee of Auburn Mutual Savings Bank, which later became People's Bank. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Alma Beckler of Gainesville, GA., his son, William Scott Beckler and his wife Rita of Milton, GA., grandchildren, Kendra Beckler, William Scott Beckler, II, Brenda Beckler and Thomas Beckler and his sister, Nellie Harmon of Suffield, CT. He was predeceased by his son, Bruce Michael Beckler, his sisters, Theresa Stevens, Verna Warye, Eleanor Pulver and Mariam Beckler, and his brothers, Frank, Charles, Edward, Ronald, and Earle Beckler, Jr. Messages of condolence may be sent to:
