Arnold Franklin Burton

Arnold Franklin Burton, age 67 of Cornelia, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at his residence.

Born on August 21, 1945 in Hall County, he was a son of the late Grant and Dora York Burton. Mr. Burton was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Piedmont College with 28 years of service. In his spare time he enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Burton was also preceded in death by a sister, Cora Lee Kimsey and a brother, Gene Burton.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Phyllis Burton of Cornelia; daughters and sons-in-law Rita and Brandon Hicks of Cleveland and Lisa and Don Welborn of Mt. Airy; son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Wendy Burton of Mt. Airy; brother, Paul Burton of Murrayville; sisters, Ethel O'Kelley of Cornelia, Eva Mae Garner of Cornelia, Pearl Taylor of Demorest, Pat Kranats of Demorest and Ruth Turner of Baldwin; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services are 11:00 am Thursday, May 02, 2013, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Danny O'Kelley and Rev. Donnie Balenger officiating. Interment will follow in Friendly Mission Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 pm on Wednesday.
