Randall Stanley Smith

Funeral services for Randall Stanley Smith, age 61, of Demorest will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 2:00 PM from the Hillside Memorial Chapel. Rev. Terry Benfield and Rev. Jan Devereaux will officiate with interment to follow the service in Memorial Park Cemetery, Gainesville.

Mr. Smith died April 21, 2013 following a period of declining health.

Born in Gainesville, Georgia on August 15, 1951 Mr. Smith was the son of the late Alfred and Dorothy Roach Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church and he spent his entire 42 year career in law enforcement. Mr. Smith worked with the Office of the Marshall of Habersham County and the Habersham County Sheriffs Department. He later was a police officer with the cities of Cornelia and Baldwin. Mr. Smith last worked for the City of Clarkesville where he was Police Chief. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith is preceded in death by brother Gene Smith and sister Mildred Farkus.

Survivors include his wife Judy Veal Smith of Demorest, sons and daughters in law Tony and Flordeliza Smith of Banks County and James and Tammy Smith of Cornelia, step daughters and husbands Kim and Eric Cook and Casie and Evan Whisenant all of Cornelia, brothers Alfred Earl Smith, Jr., and Steve Smith both of Cleveland, brother and sister in law Buddy and Elainia Smith of Clarkesville, sisters and brothers in law Doris and Buford Lewis of Cornelia, Charlotte and W.C. Mayo of Brookton, and Barbara and Kenneth Rogers of Cleveland, and grandchildren Amber, Julia, Emma Lee, Violet, Dylan, Paige, and Chase.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
