Gary Oliver Myers

Obituary Date: Thursday, April 18, 2013

Gary Oliver Myers peacefully slipped into eternal rest at his home surrounded by his family after a long, brave battle with cancer on Thursday, April 18th.

Gary was born in Ravenna, OH in 1935 to Earl B. and Mildred C. Myers.


He is survived by his lifelong sweetheart and wife of 50 years, Sandra Jean Wise Myers; his son, Scott Myers, daughter-in-law, Rhonda and grandson, Noah of Charleston, SC.



Gary's love of aircraft led him to his dream of becoming a professional pilot. Gary first soloed in a Piper J-3 Cub from a grass field in Ohio when he was 16 and went on to graduate from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. He served his country in the United States Air Force Reserves and retired from Delta Airlines after 32 years of service.



Gary was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughters Julianne and Maribeth Myers.


A Memorial service will be held on Monday, April 22 at 11 AM at the Myers home on Lake Lanier. Interment will be private.
