Carter Daniel, age 66 of Cornelia, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at his residence.
Born December 11, 1946 in San Diego, California, he was a son of the late James Randolph and Berta Gaines Daniel. Mr. Daniel was the owner and operator of C & H Mechanical & Plumbing, Inc. for 30 years. He was a member of Cornelia United Methodist Church, where he served on various church boards, and he was a recipient of the Boy Scouts Distinguished Citizen Award. In his spare time, Carter enjoyed planting flowers, spending time at the lake with his family, especially grandchildren, and in his earlier years, he coached several recreational sports teams.
Survivors include wife of 44 years, Susie Long Daniel of Cornelia; son, Chad Daniel of Clarkesville; grandchildren, Emilee, Charles, and Max Daniel; brother and sister-in-law, Randy & Ruth Daniel of Hartwell; sister-in-law, Flogene & Wallace Smith of Greenville, SC; brother-in-law, Mickey & Katherine Long of Gainesville; several special nieces and nephews also survive.
A celebration of life will be held 3:30 pm Friday, April 19, 2013, at Cornelia United Methodist Church with Dr. Jay Hughes, Rev. Wayne Smith, and Rev. Bill Edwards officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post #7720, the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, the Rabun County D.A.V. Chapter #15 and the Georgia National Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-3 pm and 7-9 pm Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be made to Cornelia United Methodist Church, 275 Wyly Street, Cornelia, GA 30531 or to the Cokesbury Methodist Church, 2207 Cokesbury Hwy, Hartwell, GA 30643.
