Minter Knotts Wells

Minter Knotts Wells, 76, of Wilmington, NC, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Columbia, SC, on November 24, 1936, daughter of the late Shlinger Benjamin Knotts and Charlie Mae Thompson.
Minter Wells loved her family, friends and country. A devoted mother, she gave her all to raising her children. A faithful friend, she remained true and loyal through the years. Minter thrived in her faith and delighted in the world around her.
After living most of her adult life in NC, she returned to Gainesville to care for her aging parents in the 1990s. Minter's love of dancing led her to the Northeast Georgia Dance Club where she danced with a line dancing group. She also enjoyed the Modern Topics Study Club. During these years, she worked with her classmates of the Gainesville High School Class of '55 with reunions and related events. While at Gainesville High in the 1950's, she had been a majorette in the Gainesville High School Band and a member of the cheerleading squad, in addition to many other school activities.
In the early 2000's, she returned to NC to be near her children. By this time, she had twin grandsons whom she adored.
Surviving are her children, Alfred D. Wells, Jr., of Wilmington, NC, Debra L Harris and husband Bill of Ayden, NC, and Charles T. Wells, of Los Angeles, CA; also two grandchildren, Trent Harris and Dylan Harris.
A funeral service was held in Wilmington on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at St. Jude's Metropolitan Community Church.
There will be a graveside service at Alta Vista Cemetery at 10:30 am, Saturday, April 20, 2013. Friends and classmates are welcome.
