Heinz Adolf Potschka

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Heinz A. Potschka, age 71 of Cleveland. Mr. Potschka passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013.

Memorial services are sceduled for 4:00pm, Sunday, April 14, 2013 from the First Presbyterian Church of Cleveland with Rev. Paul Evans and Dr. Roe Callaway officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm

Heinz was born in Vienna, Austria to the late Franz Potschka and Hermine Schneider Potschka. In 1960, Heinz migrated to Montreal, Canada where he spent some 20 years with CP Rail ( Canadian Pacific Railroad). Following his retirement with CP Rail in 1980, Heinz moved to Florida where he worked as a Property Manager. In 1993 Heinz moved to Helen and became regular part of the local landscape where he was a member the Helen Planning Commission as well as the Helen Chamber of Commerce and the White County Chamber of Commerce. He was an Ordained Elder in the Helen Presbyterian Church and was active in the Lions Club International, where he had served as Vice President. Heinz was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cleveland.

Survivors include his loving wife, Maxine Potschka of Cleveland; daughter, Nathalie Potschka, Daytona Beach, FL; step daughter and son in law, Heidi and Michael Collett of Odenville, Alabama; brothers and sisters in law, Hans and Ann Potschka of British Columbia, Franz and Christina Potschka of Nova Scotia; sister, Hermine Hosek of Montreal, Canada and Vienna, Austria; , Mother in law, Lucille Carter Jones, Lake City, FL; sister and brother in law, Lataine and Frank Taylor, Alma, Ga.; Brothers and sisters in law, Gerald and Gail Carter, Yulee, FL; Edward and June Carter, Lake City, FL; grandchildren,Ryan, Rachel and Logan Collette of Odenville, Alabama as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Cleveland, 147 N. Main St., Cleveland, Georgia 30528
