James Ishmal (Jim) Waters

Mr. James Ishmal "Jim" Waters, age 98, of Dahlonega, GA, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 following an extended illness.
Mr. Waters was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County and a member of Town Creek Baptist Church. He worked at a CCC Camp during the Great Depression building national parks and roads. He retired from Burlington Pine Tree where he worked as a machine operator.
Jim was the son of the late Samuel and Nancy Dockery Waters, and was also preceded in death by his wife Jessie Lee Eaton Waters; son, Leon Waters; brothers, Harrison, Cicero and Charlie Waters; sisters, Polly Armour, Dorothy Saine, Zona Long, May Long and Aurora Grant.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Gertrude and Verlen Helton, Louise and Bill Etris, and Avery Davidson, all of Dahlonega, Ga. 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and a number of other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Jim are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Damascus Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.
Mr. Waters will lie in state at the church from 1:30 until 2:00 pm. Rev. Charles Spruill will officiate.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega from 2 PM until 9 PM, Tuesday, March 26, 2013 and 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 27, 2013.
