Marcus Theo 'Pete' Porter

Mr. Marcus Theo "Pete" Porter age 83 of Flowery Branch passed away on Friday March 22, 2013 at his residence following an extended illness.


Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday March 23, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Drewery Loggins will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday March 22, 2013 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.


Mr. Porter was born on March 19, 1930 in Cumming, Georgia to the late Joseph Minor Porter and Myrtie Whitmire Porter. He was retired from Lockheed Air Craft as a research mechanic and also retired from Cargill after 17 years of service, and was also a member of Chestnut Mountain Baptist Church. Mr. Porter also served in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Rex Porter and Hoyt Porter, sisters, Lucille Chastain and Carrie Wallace.


Mr. Porter is survived by his wife of 59 years, Christine Porter of Flowery Branch, daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Mitch Dover of Lula, daughter, Melinda Byrd of Flowery Branch, son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Brenda Porter of Gainesville, grandson and wife, Jason and Rachel Porter, grandson and wife, Wayne and Karen Porter, grand-daughter, Holley Porter Duncan, grandson, Chuck Byrd, grand-daughter, Christy Byrd, grandson, Casey Dover, great-grandchildren, Katie Marie Porter, Bradley Duncan, Gabriel Duncan, Lincoln Porter, brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Alma Porter of Maysville, brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Vickie Porter of Dawsonville, sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Jeff Ivey of Braselton, sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and J.D. Harley of Braselton, sister-in-law, Lavern Porter of Chestnut Mountain.
