Margie Weaver

Margie Weaver, 74, of Dawsonville passed away Monday March 18, 2013 at Northside Forsyth Hospital following a sudden illness.

Born July 31, 1938 in Pickens County, she lived in Dawson County for the past 55 years. Margie served as the first and only Director of the Dawson County Senior Center, a position she has held for 29 years. Margie dedicated her life to helping others, especially Dawson County's seniors, and all the programs associated with the Center. Prior to her position at the Senior Center, she was employed at Sweet-Orr for 25 years and was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Pickens County for 61 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Weaver; and her father, Omada Childers.

Surviving are her children, Sharon Reagan, Dawsonville, Danny Weaver, Dawsonville; mother, Estelle Childers, Jasper; grandchildren, Randy and Jennifer Reagan, Samantha and Michael Bruce, Chrissy Weaver, Jade Weaver; great grandson, Chase Bruce, all of Dawsonville; sisters and brothers in law, Wanda Wigington, Jasper, Rachel and Mickey Howard, Jasper, Flondell and James Thompson, Jasper, Winnie Hopper, Ranger, JoAnn and Jerry Phillips, Calhoun, Patsy and Bill Webster, Jasper; brothers and sisters in law, Leon and Erika Childers, Jasper, Lenard and Gladys Childers, Jasper, Wayne and Nancy Childers, Jasper, Edward and Monika Childers, Calhoun, Tim and Kim Childers, Cumming; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Thursday March 21, 2013 at 11 o'clock at the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville. Rev. James Thompson and Rev. Nathan Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in the Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 3 until 8 and Wednesday from 9 am until 8 pm at the funeral home.
