Shirley Thompson

Shirley Thompson, age 73, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away Monday, March 11, 2013 after an extended illness.

Shirley was born December 8, 1939 in Blairsville, Georgia to the late Grady Thompson and Alwayne Thompson Crane, but lived most of her life in Lumpkin County.

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Henry and Johnny Thompson; sisters, Barbara Dispain and Stella Christy; daughter, Tressa Howard, and brother-in-law L.J. Mayo.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Dallas and Donna Gilbert of Dawsonville, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Roger Mills of Dawsonville, GA, Sandra and Bo Anderson and Arlene Reese all of Dahlonega, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Betty Thompson, Billy and Lisa Thompson, all of Lula, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Don Harrison of Cumming, GA, Sadie and Stan Bafile of Dahlonega, GA; sisters, Diane Garrison and Suzie Mayo, both of Dahlonega, GA. 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces and cousins also survive.

Funeral services for Shirley will be held at Banister Funeral Home Chapel, 3:00 PM, Saturday, March 16, 2013.

Rev. Larry Henry and Rev. Junior Evans will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Dahlonega Memorial Park Cemetery in Dahlonega, GA.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega from 7PM until 9PM on Thursday, March 14, all day on Friday, March 15 and from 9AM until 3PM on Saturday, March 16.
