Christine Chirico Lorenzen

Obituary Date: Thursday, February 28, 2013
Mrs. Christine Chirico Lorenzen, 88, of Clermont, passed into the heavenly realm on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 6 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home in Flowery Branch. Pastor Chris Strong and Pastor Bill Bennett will officiate. Interment will follow at 3:00pm at Eternal Hills Cemetery in Snellville, GA. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 5 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home.

Born on October 3, 1924 in Atlanta, GA to the late Clem and Adeline Simmons Mathews, Christine was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Before her retirement, she was co-owner of PJ's Sub Station in Cornelia, GA, owner of Chirmont Reality, co-owner of The Manna House in Sautee, GA, worked for the late Larry Burkett of the former Christian Financial Concepts, and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Clermont.

Most importantly, Christine loved God with all her heart, mind, and soul. She had a special relationship with the Lord Jesus. Her prayer life was constant, as she would pray for anyone who touched her life, even strangers. Always, she prayed for her sweet family and friends who loved her dearly.

Mrs. Lorenzen was predeceased by her first husband Philip M. Chirico, son J. Michael Chirico, brothers Arthur Quillian Mathews and J. Donald Mathews. She is survived by her devoted husband Theodore (Ted) Lorenzen, Clermont; loving daughters Patty Chirico, Gainesville; Terri Chirico Strong & son-in-law Chris Strong, Ellenwood; stepdaughters Julie Lorenzen, Gainesville; Navy Commander Jeanene Torrance and husband Hal, Queenstown, MD; daughter-in-law Ellen Chirico Seymour, Surfside Beach, SC; 5 loving grandchildren and 3 sweet great grandchildren.

A very special thank you to Dr. Jeffrey Terry and the Hospice Team at Northeast Georgia Medical Center for their extraordinary love, care, compassion and support. We also thank God for the numerous friends who constantly supported us in prayer. Those prayers kept us strong and comforted.
