Jane Millwood Crunkleton of Cumming, Georgia was born Dorothy Jane on January 29, 1929 to Harold Lee Millwood and Charlotte Hawkins Millwood in Fulton County, GA. She grew up in Decatur, GA. She graduated from Decatur Girls High School and attended the Georgia State College Evening Division while working full time. Later she lived in Ohio, Mississippi, Nevada, and California.
Her most interesting work related experience was Assistant to the Field Director of the American Red Cross at Las Vegas-Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. In her 24 years living in Cornelia, GA, she was active in the community, taught Sunday School at the First Baptist Church. She taught several age groups, but enjoyed the Men's Bible Class. She served as a Brownie Scout and Girl Scout troop leader and was active in the Garden Club and the Three Arts Club. Upon moving to Athens, GA, she worked in the State Office of the Cooperative Extension in the Visual Aid Department, and the University of Georgia Rare Books Collection.
Upon moving to Cumming, GA in 1986, she became active in the Historical Society serving one year as the President. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Athens, GA, and attended Ebenezer UMC in Roswell, GA.
She is survived by her daughters; Leah C. Coker of Flowery Branch,GA, Mary Alice C. (Mark) Grant of Woodstock, GA; grandchildren, Andrew Gomez of Atlanta, GA, Christopher Gomez of Savannah, GA,Ashley Gomez of Atlanta, GA; step grandchildren, Zeb Grant of Atlanta and Kaylee Grant of Woodstock, GA; 2 brothers, Harold (Beverly) Millwood of Roswell,GA, Mark (Diana) Millwood of Jasper GA; special beloved friend, Roberto Gomez Valdez of Roswell, GA; devoted friend, Laura Amstead of Port Aransas, TX, formerly of Cumming, GA
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, March 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with Rev. Glenn Hannigan officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 4 to 7.
