Donald R. Lord

Donald R. Lord, age 65, of Baldwin, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2013.

Mr. Lord was born on March 17, 1947, in Commerce, Georgia; son of Donald Jesse Lord of Commerce and the late Mamie Sue Redd Williamson.

He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Dawn Lord; step-father, George C. Williamson; step-mother, Mary Peggy Lord; and brother, David C. Williamson.

Mr. Lord was a United States Navy Veteran having proudly served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a retired electronic technician with Lucent Technologies with 33 years of service. Mr. Lord was a life member of the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post #7720. Donald enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing golf, and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his father, survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Carol Myers Lord, Baldwin, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie Renee and Jason Jackson, Alto, GA; son, Donald Michael Lord, Baldwin, GA; sister, Linda Jane Massey, Franklin, GA; step-sisters, Bobby Jean, Florida and Geraldine Warren, Lula, GA; step-brothers, George Prince, Maysville, GA and Buddy Prince, Lula, GA; grandson, Gavin Scott Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia, with Rev. Tim Beasley officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post #7720, the Rabun County D.A.V. Chapter #15, and the Georgia National Guard.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at the funeral home.
