Robert E. 'Bob' Burkholder

Robert E. "Bob" Burkholder, 95, Gainesville passed away February 20, 2013 in Gainesville, Georgia. He was born in 1918 in Philadelphia the second son of George and Sela Burkholder.



Bob, a mechanical engineer. graduated from Purdue University. While there he met his future bride, Lois, a graduate of nearby Butler University. They were married in 1942 and enjoyed 65 wonderful years together until Lois's death in 2007.

The family moved to Sandy Springs, Georgia in 1958 when Bob began a long career with Lockheed Martin. He retired in 1983. Before retirement he moved to Lake Arrowhead in Waleska, Georgia. He enjoyed his family, golf, and being actively involved in the Methodist Church during his many years there. In 2005 he and Lois moved to Gainesville to be closer to family.



Bob is survived by his daughter, Jean Willers and sons, Robert, John and Steve. In addition survivors include nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.



A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 23, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. Gainesville First United Methodist Church.
