Kathleen Samples Lewallen

Kathleen Saamples Lewallen, age 96, of Homer, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2013.

Having been a lifelong residence of Banks County, Kathleen was born on February 7, 1917; she was the daughter of the late E.E. and Lillie Chambers Samples. In addition to her parents Kathleen was preceded in
death by her husband, Jewell Lewallen and a son, William Jewell Lewallen. She was a member of Homer Baptist Church and was a graduate of Piedmont College. Kathleen was a retired Elementary School Teacher with Banks County School System with 38 dedicated years of service.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Philip Brooks, Cornelia; daughter-in-law, Diane Lewallen, Homer; four grandchildren, Philip W. Brooks and his wife Nora, John S. Brooks, Jessica Lewallen and W. Justin Lewallen. Mrs. Lewallen was the last of her immediate family.

Graveside services are scheduled 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Nails Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Swayne Cochran officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, February 25, 2013, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
