Robert Henry McDonald, 76, of Gainesville passed away Friday February 22, 2013 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Reverend Bradley Elliott officiating. Interment to follow at Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery in Dahlonega. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 6 pm-8 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. McDonald was born November 21, 1936 in Norwood, Georgia to the late Ernest Lee McDonald and Mildred Rebecca Gheesling McDonald. He served in the United States Army and retired from the Georgia Forestry as a Forest Ranger. Mr. McDonald enjoyed restoring antique cars, his pride and joy was his 56 Ford and his 76 Ranchero. Mr. McDonald was a member of Airline Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Barbara McDonald of Gainesville, daughter and son-in-law Anglia and Louis McClure of Braselton, stepson, Dwayne Coley of Mobile Alabama, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Charles Satterfield of Gainesville, brothers-in-law, James Satterfield of Gainesville and Marcus Satterfield of Jasper, sisters-in-law Montine Clark of Gainesville and Belvia Cowart of Batesville, Georgia, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Brenda and Ken Putman of Canton, Georgia.
