Margaret Kathryn "Kay" Cash, age 62, of College Park, Georgia passed away Sunday February 10th at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia after losing her battle with complications from heart surgery.
Memorial services are scheduled for Sunday February 24th at 2pm in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. The Reverend Fred Whitley will officiate. The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
Kay was born August 8th, 1951 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Roscoe and Betty Cash. Kay was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Jan Cash.
She is survived by her fiancé Gregory Theodore Carageorge, her brother and sister-in-law Tim and Cheryl Cash, and nephew Patrick Cash, and numerous relatives of the Cash and Whitmire families.
Kay retired as a teacher of gifted High School English students. She was educated in the schools of Gainesville, Georgia and Jackson, Mississippi, receiving her Bachelors degree in English from Georgia State University and Masters Degree from Clayton State University.
Kay was a talented vocalist who performed widely throughout Atlanta. She was also a gifted writer of fiction, drawing her themes directly from her Southern heritage. She was deeply involved in researching the genealogy of her ancestors, tracing them back to the early 1600's, and their early settlement in Hall County.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Kay's memory be made to the Margaret Kathryn Cash Memorial Scholarship Fund.
