Laverne Leonard Headrick

Mr. Laverne Leonard Headrick, 72, of Gainesville, GA. passed away on Monday, February 18, 2013.

Born in Chatsworth, GA, he was the son of the late Leonard Charles and Patsy Elizabeth Gilbert Headrick. He had lived in Gainesville for 49 years. He was a US Army Veteran having served during Vietnam. Mr. Headrick was self-employed in the Flooring business. He was retired from Pro Bass Fishing that had been his life's passion. He was also an avid gardener which he did from his wheelchair for the last 10 years. He was better at gardening than most people not confined to a wheelchair. His garden was a year round all organic garden. He took great joy in sharing his produce with family and friends.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister Deborah Green.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ellene Lowman Headrick of Gainesville; daughters and sons in law, Tina and David McEachin of Tamassee, SC, Darlene and Mark Izzo of Naples, FL; grandchild, Stephanie Izzo, Ft. Myers, FL; sisters, Carol Sumner, Dalton, GA, Bobbie Hardin Dalton, GA, Donna Quinn, Rocky Face, GA, and Merle Hester of Dalton, GA and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Little & Davenport Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Phillip Wehunt will officiate. Interment will follow in Rock Hill Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
