Tommy C. King, 69, of Dahlonega passed away Sunday February 17, 2013 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Born March 5, 1943 in Cornelia, Georgia to the late Ray and Eula Mae King, he had lived in Lumpkin County since 1990 having moved from Phoenix City, Alabama. Mr. King was formerly employed at Ft. Benning after which he transferred to Camp Frank D. Merrell where he worked 15 years until his retirement. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Viet Nam era. A loving husband, daddy and grandfather, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Erica King; sister, Betty Pitts; and brother, Jimmy King.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Evelyn King, Dahlonega; daughters, Lynn Smith, Atlanta, Leah Smith, Dahlonega; grandsons, Eric Garrett, Evansville, IN, Bobby Garrett, Evansville; sisters in law, Geneva Bearden, Dawsonville, Margaret Kennedy, Dawsonville; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday February 20, 2013 at 2 o'clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate. Interment will follow in Dahlonega Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 9 and Wednesday from 12 noon until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
