William David "Bill" Watson

William David "Bill" Watson, age 59, of Demorest, Georgia, passed away quietly in his sleep on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at his residence.



Bill was born on January 1, 1954, in Demorest, Georgia, to Rev. Robert W. "Bob" Watson, Sr. and Peggy Larkins Watson of Demorest. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. W.T. Watson and Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Larkins. He graduated from Habersham Central, Class of '72, attended Georgia Southern and Columbus State, and graduated from Trinity College. Bill served as choir and youth director at Clarkesville Baptist Church, Maysville Baptist Church, and Carnes Creek Baptist Church. He worked for many years with the Northeast Georgian Newspaper and worked in Assisted Living administration in Gainesville and Buford, Georgia and most recently as Activities Director for the Oaks at Scenic View in Baldwin. Bill was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and served as a deacon.



In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert W. "Bobby" Watson, Jr. and Susan Watson, Demorest, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Dr. Lynda and Barry Barron, Gainesville, GA; three nieces; one nephew; and two great nieces.



While Bill never had a family of his own, he always considered the youth and choir members of the churches in which he ministered and the senior adults of the assisted living facilities he served as his extended family.



A service of thanksgiving for the life and ministry of Bill Watson will be held at Level Grove Baptist Church on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Brian James, Rev. Lee Hill, and Dr. Tom Mewborn officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens in Demorest.



The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2013, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
