Birdie Mae Hatfield Edge

Mrs. Birdie Mae Hatfield Edge, age 93, of Dahlonega, GA, passed away Friday, February 8, 2013.

She was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County, and the oldest living member of Philippi Baptist Church in Lumpkin County. A member of the Philippi Goodwill Circle, Birdie was the greatest mom and was friendly to all she met.

She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Minnie Dyer Hatfield, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Edge; granddaughter, Angela Couch Adams; brothers, John, Tom, Joe, and Ben Hatfield; and sisters, Mary Hatfield, Sara Ann Thomas, Louisa Hatfield, and Arizona Seabolt.

Birdie is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Vernon and Barbara Edge; daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Dewey Sutton, Geraldine and Donald Couch, Sue Couch, all of Dahlonega, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Rev. Dale Abernathy of Cleveland, GA; and brother-in-law, JD Edge, Dahlonega, GA. 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews, and a number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Birdie are scheduled for 2PM Monday, February 11, 2013 at Philippi Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.

Rev. Jerry Whitlock and Rev. Jason Fuller will officiate.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA from 1PM until 9PM on Sunday, February 10.
