Irene Whitehead Smith

Mrs. Irene Whitehead Smith, age 83, of Nicholson, GA died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Bentley Assisted Living.

Mrs. Smith was born in Homer, GA to the late Doc and Georgie Segers Phillips. She was a member of Rogers Baptist Church and was the secretary for Benton Elementary School. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy M. Whitehead.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her second husband, Marshall G. Smith; son, Randy Whitehead (Martha) of Nicholson; step-daughter, Janet Williams (Buster) of Commerce; step-son, Larry Smith (Tammy) of Seneca, SC; two grandchildren, Randel and Russell Whitehead.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM, Saturday, February 9 at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Chad Payne, Rev. Jessie Mealor and Rev. Karl Mealor officiating. Interment will follow in Howington Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday night from 5 to 8 PM.
