Floyd Smith

Mr. Floyd Smith, age 92, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, February 07, 2013 at the Bell Minor Home in Gainesville, Georgia.


Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 pm Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend Earl Pirkle will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm Saturday prior to the service.


Mr. Smith was born in Gainesville, Georgia on September 2, 1920 and was the son of the late Claude T. Smith and Melinda (Lee) Smith. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and was a graduate of Riverbend High School. He was employed with Life Insurance Company of Georgia for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Elizabeth (Gailey) Smith.


He is survived by his wife, Betty (Sewell) Smith of Gainesville; son, Donnie Smith and Nicy Davidson of Gainesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and John Tiley of Tuscaloosa, AL; and Ginger and Jeff Reedy of Gainesville, GA; step-children, Dawn Sewell, Karen Moore and Cindy Garner; grandchildren, Courtenay Wishousky, Elizabeth Tiley, Joy Tiley, Spencer Smith, Scott Smith, Sarah Linn Reedy, Gailey Ann Reedy, John Reedy; great-grandson, Jake Wishousky; sister, Nob Reed of Birmingham, AL;
