Warren Richard 'Dick' Taylor

Mr. Warren Richard "Dick" Taylor, 65 of Gainesville went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday February 6, 2013 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

A native of Ohio, Dick had lived in Hall County since 1972. He was the former Fire Chief for the Hall County Fire Department from 1980 until 1983. He then went to work for the Northeast Georgia Medical Center where he served as the Director of Safety and Security for a number of years, after working for the Medical Center, he went to work for the City of Gainesville Fire Department as Fire Marshall from 1997 until 2001 and then he became Fire Chief for the City of Gainesville from 2001 until his retirement in 2007.

Dick was a veteran of the United States Navy, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville where he had served as a ordained deacon and elder and worked in many ways for the church, he also volunteered for the American Red Cross. Dick loved model trains and loved to go to the train station an watch the trains come and go in his spare time.

Survivors include his mother, Helen Taylor, Lebanon, Ohio; sister and brother-in-law; Rev. Kathy and Chuck Horne, Kettering, Ohio and his beloved boxer, Buddy.

Dick is preceded in death by his father, Warren F. Taylor and his grandparents, Roy and Zula Walker.

Memorial services will be held at the church he loved so well, Gainesville First Presbyterian Church on Friday February 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel Hagmaier officiating. Inurnment will be held in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends in the church parlor after the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Gainesville First Presbyterian Church, 800 South Enota Dr., Gainesville, Ga. 30501 in memory of Dick.
