James Love Godfrey, Jr.

Mr. James Love Godfrey Jr. age 73 of Gainesville passed away on Sunday February 3, 2013 at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday February 06, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Steve Baker and Reverend Earl Jarrard will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday February 04, 2013 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and Tuesday February 05, 2013 all day at the funeral home.

Mr. Godfrey was born on October 03, 1939 in Pickens County. He was son of the late James Love Godfrey Sr. and Elizabeth Champion Godfrey and Bill McDougal. Mr. Godfrey was a loving and patient and kind husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was loved by everyone who met him. He was retired from Gainesville Manufacturing where he was a Machinist with several years of service, and he was a member of White Oaks Baptist Church in Dallas, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Shirley Turner.

Mr. Godfrey is survived by his wife, Charlotte Godfrey of Gainesville, son, James Love Godfrey III of Jasper, Georgia, daughter, Lisa Godfrey of Canton, daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Eddie Hyde of Canton, daughter and son-in-law, DeAnna and Jim Moore of Talking Rock, Georgia, daughter, Christy and Ramon Melendrez of Gainesville, brother-in-law, Jerry Turner of Hiram, Georgia, brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Connie Godfrey of Dallas, Georgia, brother and sister-in-law, Don and Gola Godfrey of Gainesville, brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Debbie Godfrey of Toccoa, 10 Grandchildren, Anna Nguyen, Selina Melendrez, Tina C. Swain, Ricky Cooper, Eddie Hyde Jr. , Libbie Hyde, Elesha Prince, Logan Godfrey, Benson Moore and Mason Moore, and 9 Great-Grandkids, Aunt, Lillie Mae Pendley and several Nieces and Nephews.

Family will be receiving flowers, those who wish to may make contributions to the Kidney Foundation.
