Herbert Allen Hudgins

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Herbert Allen Hudgins, age 95, of Gainesville, who passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013.

Mr. Hudgins was born in Gainesville, GA, a son to the late Joseph Bart Hudgins and the late Harriett Ann Mangum Hudgins. Mr. Hudgins was a member of the Belmont Baptist Church, where he was the oldest member and Deacon Emeritus. Mr. Hudgins was a graduate of the Martin Institute of Jefferson and was employed by Georgia Power Company for forty five years. Mr. Hudgins was preceded in death by his wife Willene Kinney Hudgins.

Survivors include his daughter and son in law, Ann and Doug Williams, Pendergrass, sons and daughters in law, Lewis and Diane Hudgins, Athens, James and Ann Hudgins, Marietta, John and Beth Hudgins, Gainesville, 8 grandchildren, Teresa (Jeff) Sandrock, Barry (Neva) Latty, Bart (Ashley) Latty, Katherine (Collin) Field, Jason Hudgins, Jillian Hudgins, Sara Hudgins, Hannah Hudgins, 3 step grandchildren, Ric, Daren and Cory Williams, 6 great grandchildren, Cade, Cole, Callie, Brayden, Morgan and Thomas and 3 step great grandchildren.

The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at 2:00pm in the Belmont Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Compton officiating. The body will lie in state in the Church from 1:30-2:00pm on Sunday, prior to the service. The burial will follow in the Belmont Baptist Church Cemetery with Barry Latty, Bart Latty, Jeff Sandrock, Cole Sandrock, Collin Field, Jason Hudgins, Cade Sandrock and Brayden Latty honored as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
