Lawrence Franklin Shook

Lawrence Franklin Shook, 89, of Clayton, Georgia went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 26, 2013.

He was born April 21, 1923 and was the son of Larnce Dillard Shook and Della Gibson Shook.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dillard and Della G. Shook, his wife, Elzie H. Shook and an infant daughter, Jackie Shook.

Survivors include: Son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Sylvia Shook; Daughters and Son-in-laws, Gladys Shook, Judy and Bert Carpenter, Joan and John Davis, Sandra and Todd Simmons, Tammi Mullen, Staci and Josh Patton, all of Clayton, Michelle and Eddie Moses, of Hendersonville, N.C.; special nephew: Jerry Shook and wife Sheila of Clayton; one sister, Lena English of Clayton; three brothers, Robert Shook of Tennessee, Darnce Shook and Creed Shook of Clayton; 12 grandchildren, Clint Carpenter, Kristi Carpenter, Chad Davis, Jami Davis, Donna Bryant, Kyle Shook, Jeffrey Simmons, Staci Patton, Kayla Mullen, Ashley Moses, Eddie Moses, Jodi Perdue, Billie Harvey; 16 Great-Grandchildren: Jessica, Cole, Carson, Isabelle, Sophia, Danielle, Delayna, Jordan, Addison, Abigail, Madison, Bryson, and Isabella, Aidan, Miya, Kyla. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Shook was in the CCC's, was the foreman for GA DOT Rabun County Maintenance Crew for 34 years, and on October 10, 1974 he received the Georgia Roadside Council Award. He enjoyed farming and attended Persimmon Church of God. He was a loving father and grandfather as well as being a true gentleman in everything he ever did. He had an open house policy and was there to help anyone in need. He loved Jesus above all and was unwavering in his faith. He was also a master mechanic who could fix anything and everything.

The family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home on Monday, January, 28, 2013 from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 2 PM at Persimmon Church of God with Rev. Teddy King and Rev. Gary Ashe officiating. Burial will follow in Timpson Creek Cemetery.
