William Newton "W.N" Oliver, 91, of Chestnut Mountain, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at his home.
He was born on November 21, 1921 in Chestnut Mountain to the late William Newton Sr. and Viola Hudgins Oliver. He served in the U.S. Navy as a motor machinist 2nd class on the LST-52 during World War II. He was a retired poultry and cattle farmer.
W.N. was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Curtis Mundy Oliver; parents; three brothers; three sisters; and son-in-law, Perry F. Hammock.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Sally Oliver of Chestnut Mountain; daughter, Marcia Oliver Hammock of Chestnut Mountain; grandchildren, Kathryn and Chad Hutcheson of Charlotte,NC, Jonathan Oliver of Chestnut Mountain, Caroline and Micah Lawson of Chestnut Mountain, Shellie Hammock of Atlanta and Ryan and Jenny Hammock of Grayson; great-grandchildren, William Oliver, Isabelle Oliver, Adeleigh Hutcheson and Elliott Hutcheson.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 5 until 8 pm at Little & Davenport Funeral Home, 355 Dawsonville Highway, Gainesville, GA.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday January 27, 2013 at 3 pm in the chapel at the funeral home. The Rev. Phil Carpenter will officiate. Interment will follow at the cemetery at Chestnut Mountain Baptist Church, Chestnut Mountain, GA.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Good News at Noon, 979 Davis Street, Gainesville, GA 30501 or to a favorite charity.
