Mrs. Joann Higgins Holbrooks, age 74, of Buford, GA passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Holbrooks, infant sons, John Holbrooks and Edwin Holbrooks; parents, Charlie and Nellie Clack Higgins; brothers, Raymond Higgins and Oscar Higgins; sisters, Ferrell McDaniel and Irene King; and sister-in-law, Verlyn Holbrooks Martin. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Eros Waddell, Gainesville, GA; brother-in-law, Bill Holbrooks, Buford, GA; special nephews and nieces, Steve and Sabrina Martin, Buford, GA, Stacey and Lee Thrasher, Buford, GA and Joanie and Grant Moore, Buford, GA; and numerous other beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Holbrooks was born November 9, 1938 in Buford, GA. She was a 1957 graduate of Sugar Hill High School. She was a retired clerk from Sears Warehouse in Tucker, GA after forty-one years of service. She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, GA where she was a member of the choir. She loved Southern Gospel Music and enjoyed traveling and going to singings.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Cross Roads Baptist Church, 1391 Braselton Hwy. Lawrenceville, GA with Pastor Rev. Kenny Kuykendall, Rev. Kenneth Parker, Rev. Carl Helton and Rev. Tony Lovell officiating. Interment and Graveside Service will follow at Rock Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lawrenceville, GA with Rev. Buddy Rhodes officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
