Hubert "FLAP" Samuel Higgins

Hubert "FLAP" Samuel Higgins, age 83, of Buford, GA passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2013.

He was preceded in death by parents, Noah and Flora Higgins; brother, Larry Higgins; and sisters, Louise Higgins Allison and Marie Higgins Greeson.

He is survived by wife of sixty years, Grace Davis Higgins; son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Anita Higgins; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Higgins England and husband, Kim England; grandchildren, Heather and Dustin Brown, Jason and Brooke Higgins and Katie England; great grandchildren, Colton and Brynlee Brown and Ashlyn Page and Addison Higgins; step grandchildren, Natalie and Jeremy Wade and Lauren and David Moyer; brothers, Gene Higgins and Kenneth Higgins; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty and Earnest Nichols and Jeannette Hill; and many nieces and nephews.

Flap was a long-time resident of Buford, Georgia and a very loyal and active Buford citizen. Of all Flap's accomplishments, his greatest legacy is the love he had for his family. He was retired from Gwinnett County Government and served as a Buford City Commissioner, a Buford City School Board member and on the Planning and Zoning Committee. An avid sports fan and a devoted Buford Wolves supporter, he was also instrumental in the development of the Buford Little League Fields. He was a 50-year member of the Buford Church of God where he previously served as a trustee.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Lamar Hansard officiating and the eulogy will be given by Tammy Higgins England. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Buford, GA.
