Hayne Douglas Thomas

Mr. Hayne Douglas Thomas, 67 of Gainesville died Sunday January 13, 2013 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

A lifelong resident of Hall County, Mr. Thomas was the son of the late O'Connor and Willie Mae Henson Thomas. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was retired from United Parcel Service where he was a driver. Mr. Thomas was a member of the Murrayville Historical Society for a number of years, and served as its President from 2008-2012, he was active with Boy Scout Troop #212 since his early childhood years and was a member and deacon of the Cool Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years; Doris Thomas, Gainesville; son, Craig Thomas; daughters and sons-in-law; Corrie and Kevin Cable; Lorrie and John Miller, all of Gainesville; grandchildren, Payton Cable, Cole Cable, Jackson Miller, Hudson Miller; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Wayne Clark, Gainesville; sister, Mildred Smith, Dawsonville; brothers and sisters-in-law; Melvin and Bobbie Thomas, Gainesville; Earl and Betty Thomas, Clermont; Howell B. and Audrey Thomas, Gainesville; James and Martha Thomas, Gainesville; special 2nd mother, Estelle Bailey, Gainesville; sister-in-law, Claudette Martin, Gainesville. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Thomas is preceded in death by two infant brothers, brother-in-law, Kenneth Smith and sister-in-law, JoAnn Rogers.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday January 15, 2013 at the Cool Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Ricky Stone, Rev. Darin Cain and Rev. Phil Clark will officiate. Interment will follow in the Thomas Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Monday January 14, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers tha family has asked that memorial contributions be made ot the Cool Springs Baptist Church, 5000 Cool Springs Road, Gainesville, Ga. 30506.
