Donald Ramey

Donald Ramey, 75, of Dawsonville passed away Saturday January 5, 2013 at his residence following a short illness.

Born January 4, 1938 in Buford, Georgia to the late Cicero and Ada Ramey, he had lived in Dawson County for the past 16 years having moved from Cumming. Mr. Ramey owned and operated Ramey's Concrete and Finishing for 50 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Donald always had a smile for everyone and his quit wit brought joy to those around him. He was a member of New Life Church of God and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Dean Cantrell Ramey; sisters, Jackie Clay, Nellie West; and brothers, Floyd Ramey, Fred Ramey, and William "Bill" Ramey.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda Collins Ramey, Dawsonville; children, Eddie and Sheila Ramey, Cumming, Nell and Tommy Bryson, Cumming, Mark Ramey and Beth Thomas, Blue Ridge, Lori and Greg Cloud, Cumming; stepson and daughter in law, Jeffrey and Linda Chester, Cumming; daughters in law, Rachael George, South Carolina, Barbara Pitts, Cumming; sisters and brothers in law, Essie Mae and James Grissom, Suwanee, Lois Bolden, Lawrenceville, Minnie Tuggle, Buford, Jean and Walter "Sparky" Martin, Sugar Hill, Patsy Page, Oakwood, Dot Holbrook, Woodstock; special friends, Jim and Yvonne Zalewski, Cumming; ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 8, 2013 at 2 o'clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Mike Owens will officiate. Private interment services will be held in Sawnee View Gardens.

The family will receive friends Monday from 1 until 8 at the funeral home.
