Clifton James Posten

Mr. Clifton James Posten, age 68, of Lawrenceville, GA, died Friday, January 4, 2013 at his residence following an extended illness.

Clifton was a native of Lumpkin County, but had lived in Gwinnett County for the past 40 years. He was a retired carpenter and of the Baptist Faith.

Mr. Posten was the son of the late Jimmy Lorenzo and Clara Mae Garrett Posten; and was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Davis; and nephews, Tony and William "Peanut" Anderson.

Clifton is survived by his wife of 45 years Melissa Posten; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Scott Swafford all of Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Brody Swafford and Desiree Swafford; sisters and brothers-in-law, Frankie and Pete Anderson, Dahlonega, Idell and Benny Allen, Cleveland, Fay and Bobby Burkhalter, Cumming; brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Pam Posten, Dahlonega; brothers, Herbert Posten Dahlonega, Phillip Posten, Cleveland, Billy Posten, Cumming; brother-in-law Marcus Davis, Dahlonega.

Funeral services for Clifton are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, January 7, 2013 at Banister Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. Lyman Caldwell and Chaplain Stanley Samuel will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove United Grove Methodist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Sunday from 9 AM until 9 PM, and Monday from 9AM until the hour of service.
