Claud Lingerfelt

Mr. Claud Lingerfelt, age 97, of Dahlonega, GA, passed away Wednesday January 2, 2013.

After almost 98 years, our loving Daddy and Papa has gone to be with the Lord and to reunite with his faithful wife. He was the toughest and sweetest man to all that knew him, and we have all been blessed to call him our Daddy and Papa.

Claud was a native of Lumpkin County, where he and his wife, Annie, had been crowned the Gold Rush King and Queen in 2005. He had lived the past 2 years at Foothills Personal Care Home in Dahlonega, where he was loved by his friends and caretakers. He was retired after 23 years of service in maintenance at the Pine Tree Plant in Dahlonega, and 13 years as groundskeeper for the U.S. Forest Service.
Claud was a member of Hightower Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.

He was the son of the late John and Jennie Moss Lingerfelt; and was also preceded in death by his wife, Annie Seabolt Lingerfelt; sons, Eddie and C.F. Lingerfelt; granddaughter, Jodi Lingerfelt Gilreath; sisters, Fannie Lee, Estelle Gaddis, and Lela Ralston; and sons-in-law, Harold Fowler and Bill Adams.

Claud is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Freddy and Pam Lingerfelt of Dahlonega, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Leon Moss, Dahlonega, GA, Marie and Lamar Beck, Calhoun, GA, Joyce and Kenneth Waters, Dahlonega, GA, Adean and John Burnett, Dahlonega, GA, Ellen and Ed Handte of Key Largo, FL; and daughters-in-law Karen Lingerfelt and Judy Lingerfelt, of Dahlonega, GA. 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and a number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Claud are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, January 4, 2013 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. Lyman Caldwell, Rev. Paul Shadburn, and Rev. L.C. Bennett will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Wednesday from 7 PM until 9 PM, all day Thursday, and Friday until time of service.
