Jean Berry Cavender

Jean Berry Cavender went home to be with her Lord on Sunday December 30, 2012.

Jean was born on September 9, 1942, in Hall County. She graduated from East Hall High School, Truett McConnell College and earned her BS Degree from Brenau University. She was selected by the Teacher Education Faculty of Brenau as an Outstanding Young Educator.

Jean retired as the District Coordinator of the Georgia Women, Infant and Children (WIC) Program. Her office was in the Hall County Health Department. She loved her work and was an avid traveler. She had the privilege of visiting many states and traveling abroad. Jean loved her church family at Central Baptist Church where she was a member and her church family at Harmony Hall Baptist Church where she was a member for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her Husband Thomas Dorsey Cavender and her Parents, Calvin M. and Naomi Griggs Berry.

She is survived by a Brother, William J. (Bill) Berry and Wife Glenda, Gainesville, Sisters, Joyce Berry Blanton and Husband Ennis; Cuthbert, Myrtle Elaine Berry Smith and Husband Walter M., Gainesville, 11 nephews and nieces and 21 great nephews and nieces.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday January 2, 2013 in the Ward's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Earl Pirkle and Rev. Boone Strickland will officiate. Interment will follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m and 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday January 1, 2013 at the funeral home.
