James "Jim" Cook

Mr. James "Jim" Cook, age 63, of Dahlonega, GA passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012 at his home following a short illness.

Jim was a native of Boston, MA who had lived in Lumpkin County since 1995. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation and he was a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran. Jim was also a member of Gold City Classics Car Club.

Jim was the son of the late Sylvester J. Cook and Priscilla McDonough Cook and was also preceded in death by a brother, Carl Cook.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Rider Cook, Dahlonega, GA; stepdaughters, Leigh Ann Cleary and her husband Jarod, Jeri Fuller and her husband Sandy, all of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Dylan Cleary, Weston Fuller, and another boy grandchild due in April; sisters-in-law, Bobbi Kimmel, Jere Anderson, and Hazel Satterfield; brother-in-law, Ricky Rider; close friend, Brad Gentry and his wife Robin; brother, George; sisters, Nancy, Dyna, and Patricia. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Jim's beloved pets, Zorro, a Black Lab, age 15 and Sierra, a Boxer, age 12 when she died, were faithful and obedient pets.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 AM Monday, December 31, 2012 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Sunday from 4 PM until 9 PM.
